ATHLETIC ARTIST: Fearless Ascent

A workshop on liberating the neck and shoulders, eventually opening up the heartspace towards learning creative possibilities of movement across the upper body. All rooted in the belief that each and every one of us is an inherently athletic artist ascending towards liberation. To different measures, we possess the innate capability to achieve incredible feats through our bodies and mind. Celebrate the artistry of mindful movement through the poetry of vinyasa, meditation and free-form movement.

SURFING GRAVITY: Finding Flow within Flight

What next when I’m on my hands? This dynamic workshop invites us to explore ways in which we respond to gravity, opening up more creative possibilities for movement upon balancing on our hands. By dancing with and against gravity along the spectrum of ‘surrender’ and ‘resistance,’ we will study our responses to the volatile nature of fear as a mirror to how we approach challenges off the mat.

Open to curious movers of all levels, particularly relevant to those wishing to safely practice arm balances and inversions. Not suitable for complete beginners.

ATHLETIC ARTIST: Fluid Descent

A workshop rooted in the release of our hips and hamstrings, grounding our feet towards learning creative possibilities of movement across the lower body. All rooted in the belief that each and every one of us is an inherently athletic artist descending towards manifestation. To different measures, we possess the innate capability to achieve incredible feats through our bodies and mind. Celebrate the artistry of mindful movement through the poetry of vinyasa, meditation and free-form movement.

PERMISSION TO PLAY: Finding Freedom in Practice

Sunday 1:30 pm

The practice of yoga can be playful and need not be another piece of labor. Play is an ideal state of mind for creativity and learning because the mind is focused on the means instead of the outcome. As a community, we will devise our own games to explore how varying degrees of playfulness can be incorporated within the framework of yoga by utilizing partner work and props.

Open to all, but particularly useful for self-practitioners and teachers interested in facilitating play and free movement in practice.
